History Highlights
SPECTRUMLABS, quality control laboratories in Piraeus, Greece, founded in 1967 by two PhD Chemical Engineers, Evangelos Papadopoulos and Ilias Hatzopoulos, under the name of ” PAPADOPOULOS – HATZOPOULOS “. The company was established to meet the needs of the Greek Shipping and Marine Industry.
Key milestones that shaped the trajectory of our company within the market are: 1968 – Development of the Laboratory for Chemical Analysis of Petroleum Products. 1970 – Development of Non-Destructive Testing Department. 1973 – Development of the Department of Destructive Testing – Chemical Analysis of Metals. 1978 – Development of the Metallurgical Testing Department. 1985 – Installation in privately owned offices in the heart of Piraeus Port (Private building of 800 sq. m.).1992 – Establishment of Quality Assurance Department and certification awarded by BVQI (Bureau Veritas of France) under ISO 9001 (Quality Management System).
2002 – Accreditation to ISO 17025 (Laboratory competence of testing) by E.SY.D (Hellenic Accreditation Council). 2004 – Conversion of the company into a Societe Anonyme Company (S.A.) and change of name to SPECTRUMLABS with the entry of Nikos Hatzopoulos, son of Ilias Hatzopoulos, Chemical Engineer, into the company’s share capital. 2008 – Nikos Hatzopoulos takes over the management of the laboratory. 2009 – Development of Environmental Controls Department. 2012 – Development of the Environmental Controls Department. 2014 – Development of the Composites and Building Materials Department. 2018 – Development of Software Department – Data Processing.
2022 – Accreditation to ISO 14001 (Environmental management systems) by TÜV AUSTRIA.
2022 – Accreditation to ISO 45001 (Occupational health and safety management systems) by TÜV AUSTRIA.
